Privacy Policy
Last updated: 16 July 2026
Teamup ("we") is an app for finding people to join sports and activities nearby.
This policy explains what personal data we process, why, and what rights you have.
The data controller can be reached at teamup@myteams.no.
What data we process
- Account details: name, email address and optionally a profile picture, received from Google or Apple when you sign in.
- Profile: the display name you choose and your sport interests.
- Activities and challenges: content you create and take part in.
- Push token: a technical identifier used to send you notifications.
- Location: your device's location is used to search for nearby activities. We store your most recent approximate search location so we can notify you when an activity matching your interests is created nearby — this can be turned off in the app (Profile). We keep no location history, and your location is never shared with other users.
- Email invites: if you invite someone to a challenge by email, we store the address until the invite is redeemed or the challenge ends.
- Web guests: if you join a challenge in the browser without the app, we store the name you enter and a necessary cookie that remembers you.
Why (legal basis)
The data is used solely to provide the service. The basis is our agreement with you (GDPR art. 6(1)(b)). We do not do advertising, profiling or selling of data.
Storage and sharing
Data is stored on our own server in the EU. We do not share personal data with third parties, with these exceptions: Google/Apple handle the sign-in itself, and Expo's push service delivers notifications to your device. Other users only see your display name and profile picture.
Deletion and your rights
You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → Delete account). You have the right to access, rectification, erasure and data portability under the GDPR, and can complain to your data protection authority. Contact us at teamup@myteams.no.
